About the Inn

Built in the late 1920's by island tradesmen, the Barnacle was designed as a summer inn and has been in business for 85 consecutive summers. The Kiendl family has operated the inn since 1966 and in that time has gained a gracious reputation from island visitors. All agree that the warm ambience of the inn, combined with its ideal location, make the Barnacle the perfect choice for an island getaway.

The front patio, which is surrounded by bushes, roses, and beautiful gardens, is where guests begin their day with our complementary signature breakfast. Fresh coffee and home baked rolls are delivered either to your room or the terrace, depending on your whim. Full sun bathes the porch and gardens each morning, providing serenity and beauty as you begin your day of island adventures.

The side gardens are beautifully shaded with lush colorful native flowers and perennials. Cribbage boards and books are available in the library of the spacious front living room, which remains cool and airy on even the hottest of summer afternoons. In the evening, the porch and patio tables are candlelit providing a romantic interlude before your walk to a downtown restaurant or watering hole.

"I've loved the Barnacle Inn for over thirty years.
Each room has its own wonderful, unique character; breakfasts presented on china and fresh flowers are the best"
